Nine new organisations to receive community grant
The Greggs Foundation Community Grant Programme runs four funding rounds each year, offering grants of up to £20,000 for up to two years to support impactful local initiatives. Each round focuses on specific locations, selected based on community need and proximity to a Greggs Outlet.
For round two, we invited applications from organisations based in Edinburgh, North Tyneside, and Newcastle. We were inspired by the incredible work being done in these areas and are proud to support a new group of changemakers.
Our grants provide core funding—whether it’s to cover the salary of a key team member or to maintain vital community spaces—ensuring that local organisations can continue delivering essential services and making a real difference where it matters most.
The successful community organisations receiving funding in round 2 are as follows:
Edinburgh
Drake Music Scotland
Based in Edinburgh, Drake Music Scotland empowers disabled individuals through inclusive music-making. They use adaptive technologies and specialist teaching to enable people of all ages and abilities to learn, compose, and perform music.
Midnight and Beyond
Operating in North Edinburgh, Midnight and Beyond supports at-risk youth aged 12–25 through voluntary engagement, and during the crucial hours up to 3am. They offer diversionary activities, mentoring, and education/employment support to help reduce offending rates and promote more positive life choices.
Richmond’s Hope
Richmond’s Hope provides bereavement support for children and young people aged 4–18. Based in Edinburgh, they offer therapeutic play and one-to-one sessions to help young people process grief and develop coping strategies.
North Tyneside
Anxious Minds
Located in Wallsend, Anxious Minds is a mental health charity offering counselling, crisis support, and recovery services for individuals aged 14+. They also run veteran support programmes and community kitchens.
True Colours Theatre CIO Foundation
Based in North Tyneside, True Colours Theatre offers inclusive performing arts classes for children and young people with disabilities or additional needs, promoting confidence, creativity, and community through drama, dance, and music.
Phoenix Detached Youth Project
Phoenix Detached Youth Project supports 13–25-year-olds through informal education, mentoring, and leisure activities. They focus on personal development and community engagement in disadvantaged areas, with a particular focus on Meadowell, Percy Main, East Howdon, Royal Quays and Chirton.
Newcastle
Building Futures East
Located in Walker, Building Futures East supports people in the east of Newcastle with services like employment training, health checks, domestic abuse support, and financial advice to build resilience and improve quality of life.
YMCA Newcastle
YMCA Newcastle, the city’s oldest youth charity, provides housing, health, education, and youth work services. They aim to help young people thrive in body, mind, and spirit through inclusive community programmes.
Northbourne Youth Initiative
Based in Elswick, Northbourne Youth Initiative offers activities for 8–25-year-olds, including Duke of Edinburgh awards, wellness sessions, and leisure trips. They focus on promoting personal growth, confidence, and greater involvement in the wider community.
